Elisa Bea Trojillo

Hello! My name's Elisa. I also go by Bea. I'm just a random nineteen year old who fell inlove with photography. I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the United States when I was 14 years old.

During my time in Howard Community College, I have been given the opportunity to be the head photographer of the student led campus newspaper, HCC Times. For the two semesters (Fall 2014 and Spring 2015) as the head photographer, I provided photos for articles, and was also the person behind the Humans of HCC section of the paper. Humans of HCC is inspired by the work of Brandon Stanton, creator of Humans of New York

Learning and being able to share the unique stories of students, professors, and staff around the campus has been an inspirational and eye opening experience. It’s incredible how a simple photo and a few words allowed me to show insights into the lives of individuals against who might otherwise hold stereotypes. Seeing people from different walks of life to easily connect a certain individual's story was a very moving experience. Doing this has served as a constant reminder to me that everyone else is just as dejected, messed-up, or as weird as ourselves and has allowed me to realize the importance of belonging in a diverse community.

The music I make and the photos I take offer me a momentary distraction from life. I hope you enjoy my "attempt" on photography. :)
